Recent Obsessions

Hi everyone! Happy Tuesday! Does this not feel like the never ending week? I thought all day it was Thursday, whomp whomp. I think the fact that it's summer, and the sun is finally out after like ten straight days of rain and storms, I am ready for the weekend!

There have been a few things I have been LOVING lately, and wanted to share with you all:

  • Purlisse Bb Tinted Moist Cream - This is not a recent like, it's an all out OBSESSION of mine. I have been using this as my every day foundation for months, and I am here to tell you all, it's life changing. This stuff is so good you guys. In the morning, I put this on, slap on some mascara and sprint out the door to work. It is full coverage, has SPF in it. and has some other kinds of stuff that is good for your skin - always a plus. I also wear this as my base if I am going somewhere a little nicer and need a fuller face of make up. I use the Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder, and then add concealer, blush, etc. Do yourself a favor and at least try this stuff out, it is really that amazing.
  • Rodan and Fields - Lash Boost - First and foremost, I do not sell this stuff, so I have no dog in this fight. Second, if you follow me on Instagram, you will see how amazing this product is. I was SUPER skeptical of using this. It is a little pricey, and I am always weary of multi level marketing products. BUT this has exceeded all of my expectations. Someone asked me this weekend if I was wearing fake eyelashes. My eyelashes overnight have gotten so much thicker and SO MUCH longer. I swear some days they look more like weeds then eyelashes.
  • Trader Joe's Sunscreen - Did you know Trader Joe's sells sunscreen? Well if you did not, now you do and I swear up and down by this sunscreen. You say the word sun and Alex will get a sunburn, his skin is so incredibly fair. This is the ONLY sunscreen I have used on him where he does not even get slightly red. It is also a decent price coming in under $6. Win, win.
  • The Bachelorette - Not much I need to say here, except this show will always be the guiltiest of guilty pleasures. Oh and, Team Colton all the way.

Anything you guys obsessing over these days? Would love to hear from you!

Body Image

This topic has been something that has been weighing heavy on me lately. So, let’s talk about body image!

Most days, my body image is a non-issue for me. Most days I get up, get dressed and don’t think twice about it. Most days I’m not in a bathing suit. Most days I don’t dress out of the normal and have to get dressed up for a special event. But some days it’s rough. Some days it is absolutely draining thinking about how I look. The past few weeks have been hard. I went to a wedding on Saturday and I just felt like NOTHING looked good. Everything was hitting my stomach weird, or my arms looked fat, or my thighs were showing to much, etc.

We live in a weird world. Beauty standards are all over the place these days, and with the obsession over social media it is so easy to compare ourselves to Instagram “models”, or celebrities or our friends even. Like it sucks right? I hate comparing myself with other people but how do you not with it being shoved in your face constantly?

I honestly have no real advice here, because I do not really know how to manage when I am having low self esteem. Any advice on how you deal with body image issues?

Life Lately

Hey blog world, it has been a minute! Life has been crazy busy and all kinds of fun the past few weeks, hence my radio silence on here. I honestly meant to do a recap of our Colorado trip and just forgot to (shrug emoji), I will get around to that one of these days!

Anyways, a few weekends ago Alex and I hosted our first party at our house! We have lived here over a year and never really hosted anyone. We had an engagement party for my sweet friend who got engaged recently. We had SO.MUCH.FUN! Alex made the best sliders and bruschetta, and everyone pitched in to make some dips and yummy apps. If I was a good blogger, I would have taken a picture of the spread but once again I just forgot. We drank way too much and danced the night away in my living room. Love is really cool y'all and it's so fun to celebrate this time in their lives!

This past weekend one of my best friends from college, who lives in Chicago, was in town for the long weekend. We spent the weekend at her families lake house and had the best time catching up and getting way too much sun. These friendships mean the world to me and I love that even though people have moved and we do not have nearly as much time as we would like to stay in touch, that when we are together it feels like nothing has changed.

This weekend we are headed to another friends wedding and it will be blast! I know a lot of our friends from college will be there so it will be wonderful to celebrate them and catch up with people we have not seen in a while.

Like I said, life is busy and this space is taking a serious back seat to that. I am working on getting better this week, watch out world!
